- * BTG1 family signature *
- *************************
-
- A novel family of anti-proliferative proteins has been recently [1,2]
- characterized:
-
- - Mammalian and avian protein BTG1. BTG1 seems to negatively regulate cell
- proliferation.
- - Rat and mouse NGF-inducible protein PC3/TIS21.
-
- The proteins have from 158 to 171 amino acid residues. PC3/TIS21 seems to have
- a signal sequence; while BTG1 may lack such a domain. The sequence of these
- proteins are extremely well conserved. As a signature pattern we chose a
- perfectly conserved 16 residue segment from the central section of these
- proteins. This signature includes one of three conserved cysteines.
-
- -Consensus pattern: K-G-S-G-Y-R-C-I-R-I-N-H-K-M-D-P
- -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL.
- -Other sequence(s) detected in SWISS-PROT: NONE.
- -Last update: June 1994 / First entry.
